T.J. Nicholson, CF Level 2 Coach

I have been involved in sport my entire life. Growing up I played hockey and baseball, and was involved with team sports in school. I eventually found track and field and was involved at both the school and club levels specializing in middle distances (800 m and 1000m). After graduation, I worked for the Department of National Defence as an “Ammunition Technician” for 7 years. In 2010 I attended Lakeland Emergency Services College and completed my diploma program as an “Emergency Services Technician”. I worked as a full time fire fighter/EMT and fire service instructor specializing in technical rescue. In summer of 2018 I made a career change and started with Crossfit 306 as Operations & Sales Manager and full time coach. Being at 306 has allowed me more time with my wife and two children doing the things we love to do; the cabin, beaches, lakes and just being together!

What Got Me Into Crossfit: After fire college, I did a few “FireFit” competitions. Training for that was very much like Crossfit. I was very reluctant to “drink the kool-aid” of Crossfit at first but there was no denying it was the best route to take for continuing my training. I started following some online programming in a globo gym and did so until signing up for Crossfit in the summer of 2015. The rest is history!

  • Favourite Unhealthy Snack: Anything with Nutella on/in it

  • Fun facts: I’m an explosives expert. I prefer a burger over a steak.
