Goals

SAD tip #11 - Set daily goals

I know that I have talked a lot about goal setting in the past. I am a big fan and during these times, it can be beneficial to set not only short term and long term goals, but to set daily goals for yourself as well.

When you are mentally struggling, you need a little more help and support. Set yourself up for success by creating daily goals for yourself to achieve. Do not make these goals unattainable or a stretch, make them manageable. The last thing that you need is a daunting task with the chance that you might fail it and then it will send you down a rabbit hole of negative thoughts.

So, 1 goal every day, that's it. If you accomplish more, awesome - it's a bonus. Perhaps start with something like, stretch for 10 minutes. You aren't committing to hours at hot yoga or a specific class time. You just have to stretch for 10 minutes, wherever and however that looks for you. You can build on your goals as well and theme them for the week. Perhaps you add 1 minute to your stretch routine each day of the week and then on the weekend, when you have more time, you do a full yoga practice.

The point is not the goal, but accomplishing the task set out for yourself. Accomplishing something feels good. It boosts your confidence and mood. I know that I need all the help I can get this month😃. Happy planning!
