School's out for the holiday!! Do you have some excited kids in the house? Honestly, only my oldest is the only one of mine that goes to a brick and mortar school, but they are all excited for the break. I actually am on holidays from my other job as well. We planned it so that the girls and I can finish getting ready for Christmas together. There was a part that was really easy when they were little. I could Christmas shop with them there and they didn't even know. Now, it's a different kind of easy. I always have a shopping buddy to help me out. I can take Sienna to help me pick out stuff for Sydney and Chloe and then I can take Sydney to help me with Sienna and Chloe to help me with the rest. It's pretty fun and it gives me the opportunity to hang out with each of my girls and share some quality time together.
We like to get a coffee and we always have good chats. They show me what they think would be "perfect" gifts and I love to see their excitement and energy.
As fun as this is for all the kids, I also know how stressful it can be for parents or adults. This year, there are so many unknowns and job stability, well that just isn't a thing for many. I get it, we got shut down for 3 months this year already and it could happen again, just in time for Christmas. Here's the thing that I am trying to do...stay positive. The mess, the sadness, the stress - that is NOT my kids stuff. They are children and they will have plenty of time to deal with the ugly stuff that comes with age. It is so important that they see excitement, love and happiness. I am not saying that you can't be stressed, just find an outlet that they don't have to see or take it on.
Jason and I can go on walks and talk it out. I have had moments where I cried in my car by myself. I have an amazing sister who is a huge support for me as well where I can vent and talk without judgement. The thing is - sometimes, we need a good cry, because we need to get some emotion out. Sometimes we need to vent and sometimes we need to scream. Do it, just try to do it away from your kids. With so much change and negativity this season, let's do what we can to be beacons of light and hope. Look for the magic...it is all around you🥰
