Cancer sucks, but you got this Paige!

Andrea has been a regular “nooner” for over 10 years now.  She comes in everyday on her lunch break, pushes hard and is always a pleasure to be around.  She is a huge supporter of ours and has brought many colleagues to the gym and she stayed with us during Covid, training from home.  Andrea is a huge pillar of our community and now it is our turn to lift her up.

Andrea’s daughter, Paige was complaining of leg pain this fall.  They went for some scans to look a little deeper and she was diagnosed with osteosarcoma.  Osteosarcoma is a rare but aggressive bone cancer that mostly affects children and teens.  Thankfully, the cancer seems to be localized to Paige’s leg and she was admitted quickly to hospital to start treatment.  She has lost most of her hair, but it seems that she has kept her sense of humour.

Paige will be in and out of the hospital for her treatments and in January she will go in for surgery to amputate her leg just above the knee.  This should get rid of all the cancer so that this beautiful little girl can get back to being a carefree kid.

Obviously, cancer is something that a whole family fights.  There will be a steak night fundraiser (poster at the gym) held on December 08th at Sports on Tap – 2606 Lorne Avenue.  Cost is $35/person and there will be a 50/50 draw and silent auction as well.

Christmas Hamper:

If you wish to donate something to put into a gift for the family for Christmas, please bring it to the gym.  With all the time back and forth to the hospital, it might be nice to gather some books, crafts, games, lego, puzzles, etc.

Other ideas: gift certificates for house cleaning, snow removal (when it comes), massage GC’s, etc.

Please leave donations at the front desk.  We will also have a collection for cash donations set up.

Andrea, Steve, Paige and Lennon, we are with you – you got this!

Much love from your 306 family
