306 to Represent at the Canadian Power Lifting Championships

Greetings 306er's,

I'm very happy to update you on some of exciting powerlifting news:

Three lifters will represent Reebok Crossfit 306 and Saskatchewan at the 2014 Canadian Powerlifting Union Nationals in St. Catharine's, Ontario, tripling the amount from last year.

First up, Kent Brown will be competing in the 66 kg Open Class. Kent looks to improve on all of his lifts, adding to the impressive 200 lbs he's added to his total in the last year. Kent should be able to take a run at the National bench record of 140 kg (308 lbs) and is in the running for a podium finish.

Next, Genevieve Grant will be competing in the 84 kg Master II Class. Gen will be looking to duplicate her 75.5 kg (166 lbs) bench press (or more) for the official National record. Although battling injuries, Gen looks to improve on her squat, and already impressive 315 lb deadlift. Gen is also a strong candidate for a podium spot in her National debut.

Finally, Jessie Buydens is lifting in the 84 kg+ Open Class. Jessie looks to repeat on the podium, and has a strong potential to WIN it all. Jessie will also be looking to set the beat the National bench record of 105 kg (231 lbs), which would stand as the highest raw bench press in CPU history.

Kent and myself will be lifting at 3:30 PM EST (1:30 CT) on Monday, March 31st.

Gen and Jessie lift at 9:00 AM EST (7:00 AM CT) on Wednesday, April 2nd.

You can watch all the action on-line here!

Good luck to all lifters!

Also, if competing in Powerlifting is something that interests you, your next chance to compete and qualify for Nationals is May 17th in the Reebok Crossfit 306 Powerlifting Open.
