COVID-19 Update from Reebok CrossFit 306

To all our valued members,

It seems that our whole world has been turned upside down in a matter of days.  COVID-19 has put a stop to activities, events, and is having a huge impact on our global economy.  Our governments are taking drastic measures to ensure the safety of all Canadians and to prevent devastation for our country.

Rebecca and I are constantly monitoring the situation and are taking the necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our members.  We've spoken with personnel within the Saskatchewan Health Authority and as of March 15th our facility and activities are not considered a medium or high risk.

As a small fitness facility, we do not have a gathering of over 250 people. We have an average class size of 12-14 people with plenty of personal space for each athlete.  As such, we will remain open so that our members can come and train, socialize and get an immune boost from the workouts.

We have increased our cleaning regime and are now providing members with Lysol wipes to wipe down all equipment after use.  We will continue to clean our space regularly to ensure that we do everything that we can to stop the spread of this virus. We have hand sanitizers at the front and back of our gym.

We are asking each of you to help stem the transmission by consistently wiping down equipment before/after your workout. You know where you’ve been and what you’ve touched during your workout. We are also asking that you keep or up your normal hygiene levels during this time.

This means:

A. Please shower and deodorize BEFORE coming to the gym that day (or the night before)

B. Please wash your hands before you get in your car to come over to the gym

C. If you feel the onset of cold or flu-like symptoms, take a day off from the gym until you’re feeling better. Even 2 days after the final symptoms, you may still be infectious to others. For their sakes, stay home a little extra during this crucial time.

D. Try not to touch your mouth, nose, ears, or eyes while at the gym until after you’ve washed up.

E. Please wash your hands while at the gym. We’ve ordered extra paper towels and soaps!

F. Elbow bump instead of high five for the time being

G. If you have come in contact with someone that has contracted COVID-19, PLEASE QUARANTINE YOURSELF. 14 days is the mandated length. We will provide daily home workouts for anyone in this scenario going forward (that will not require any equipment).

We will continue to follow the instructions of Health Canada and the Saskatchewan Health Authority and respond accordingly.

This experience can be scary, but I urge you to remain calm.  Remember, you can only control you and your actions. It is important to stay positive, this too shall pass.

If you need to stay home and need on-line help – current members can send us a message and we can give you a variety of bodyweight workouts or ones that require minimal equipment.

We consider COVID-19 to be Force Majeure and out of our control, should the gym be
mandated to close temporarily.  There will be no freezing of accounts or cancellations during this time.   A small family run business like ours is incredibly susceptible to even a small drop in revenue.  In order to preserve our beautiful community, have a place to return to and continue to pay wages to our staff this may be become a necessary step.

Yours in health,
