Holiday Season Wellness

Haley Tippmann

The holiday season is approaching quickly, and with it, the influx of New Year goals, resolutions, and the concept of a “winter arc”. The concept is that one should overindulge in the month of December and then turn it all around in the new year so that one enters spring/summer as an “unrecognizable” version of yourself. And though this concept may seem appealing in theory, the flaws are evident when we look at it from an objective standpoint. We all know that we can’t have everything, so many sacrifices will have to take place to achieve this unrecognizable state. Which, in truth, is not necessary or something that you should strive for. It is essential that we prioritize our health and wellness, but that means having small routines and habits that you stick to all year round that contribute to your overall health and work steadily to make you into that version of yourself that we seek out on January 1st. It is essential to stay mindful this holiday season; don’t be restrictive, but don’t overindulge. Continue to move your body each day, go for walks, spend time outside, and come in for a class. There is no need to put unnecessary pressure on ourselves come the new year. Instead, let’s focus on creating a lifestyle that promotes health and happiness all year round.
